Environmental Management Systems ISO 14001:2015

The ISO 14001 standard identifies an environmental management system (EMS) which sets out the requirements of an “environmental management system” of any organization and is part of the ISO 14000 series developed by ‘”ISO / TC 207″.

ISO 14001 certification demonstrates that the certified organization has an adequate management system to control the environmental impact of its activities, and systematically seeks to improve in a consistent, effective and above all sustainable way.

Benefits of Certification

Obtaining the Certification according to UNI EN ISO 14001 means to achieve the following advantages:

  • Reduce costs related to environmental aspects
  • Reduce environmental risks
  • Solve the management of compulsory environmental regulatory obligations
  • Improve competitiveness
  • Improve corporate image

The objective must be to create an integrated business management concept, which introduces the improvement of business activities also in the areas of environmental protection, safety and hygiene at work through:

  • Utilizzo di potenziali di risparmio di energia e materie prime
  • Internal efficiency and employee motivation
  • Reduction of accident risks
  • Greater legal certainty
  • Competitive and image advantages
  • Opening of new markets

Finally, we cannot forget the more “strategic” advantages, both externally, such as a better image towards the public and customers, market opportunities and easier access to public funding, and internally, such as improved efficiency and employee motivation and participation.

The environmental certification represents, in fact, an ideal tool to create a widespread virtuous system: if companies will consider the adherence to the environmental certification as an element of choice of their suppliers as well as the quality and price of the supply, it will create a circuit of companies able to provide guarantees of eco-compatibility and reliability.
